Impact
A thicker tile spreads the force of a dropped weight through more rubber before it reaches the floor beneath. Heavy lifting needs that depth. Stretching doesn't.
Thickness guide · Not sure which thickness?
Match the tile to what happens on the floor. Get it right and you don't pay for rubber you don't need. Get it wrong the other way and the floor underneath takes the damage.

What thickness changes
A thicker tile spreads the force of a dropped weight through more rubber before it reaches the floor beneath. Heavy lifting needs that depth. Stretching doesn't.
More rubber absorbs more of the bang. Where noise matters, such as an upstairs gym or a shared building, lean towards the thicker end for that kind of use.
A thicker tile raises the floor more. Before you choose, check that doors will still swing clear and that thresholds to other rooms still meet comfortably.
One room, several uses?
Many gyms have a stretching corner, a dumbbell rack and a lifting platform in the same room. Send us a rough sketch or a list of what goes where, and we'll suggest the thickness for each area.
